What does Yoga, Parenting and Surfing all have in common?

Before my four children came about, my life was centred around my love affair with the ocean and the stillness of my yoga mat. I was so intune with who I was and my interaction with the environment around me, that my now husband was one of the only people that could understand my existence. He to, just like me has a gravitational pull to the tides and swells that rhythmically embrace our shorelines everyday without fail.

As a surfer, the earths rhythmic cycles become important. The sun comes up. The sun goes down. Winter gets wiped away with Spring. Spring melts in time due to Summer. Summer peaks to allow Autumn and Autumn sleeps to rest through Winter.  Our planet is dictated heavily due to its rotation with the sun. Our oceans become alive due to the ebb and flow of the tides, the seasonal changes create rhythmic fetch lines for our cycle of waves to surf on. These are natural cycles beyond our control.

As a yogi, the bodies rhythmic cycles also become important. First and foremost the cycle of the breath. The key to our existence, becomes the centre point to the practice. Our bodies major systems rhythmically work together to ensure the health and wellbeing of our bodies. Our heart rhythmically pumping life into our existence. We can control these natural cycles.

With all this being said, there are some cycles of life then within our control and others beyond our control.  So what does Yoga, Parenting and Surfing all have in common? All these are based on natural cycles with or beyond our control. As a mother sometimes we can feel either.

But the one thing the ocean has taught me is this. Rhythm forms vibrational patterns of energy. When the world throws us a bright and sunny day, there is an emense pull to step outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, yet last time the cycle of weather rhythmically threw us a cold, cloudy overcast day, did this affect your spirit?

These vibrational patterns of energy are also found within us. Yoga helps us to regulate this energy within as this energy always naturally flows in a cycle. We cant change this. Just like high tide and low tide comes and go, so to does our vibrational patterns within. How can we mothers, tap into our personal vibrational cycle to better understand ourselves and our children?

When you vibrate the same energy as another, we typically say that the person is on the same wavelength as us. Most people attract compatible relationships due to this natural inbuilt ability we all have.  Our vibrational energy becomes in harmony with each other. We can bond with our children more intuitively by simply aligning our vibrational patterns of energy together.  Yoga for babies assist this process to naturally occur without force.

Our babies are so tuned to how we think and feel. When my first born was an infant I was so anxious in ensuring that I was doing the right thing. Now after my fourth I parent in the vibrational energy of confidence.  This sends off a natural vibrational pull to all my children that they are safe, secure and loved.
